Children’s Book Submission Requirements

If you would like ICR to consider your children’s book for publication, please start by emailing a one-page query letter to submissions@ICR.org, and we will contact you if we’d like to see more. Do not send physical copies. ICR Publishing Group will not return or respond to unsolicited manuscripts. Response within three months.

Click here for the main Publications Submission Guidelines page.

Your query should include:

  • Author name, phone number, email address, address, and website
  • Very brief introduction of yourself, focusing on any relevant qualifications; tell us why you're the person to write this book
  • Your book's genre and intended audience
  • Previous publications
  • Limit your query to no more than 250 words

If after viewing your query letter, we request a proposal, here’s what it should include:

  • For a picture book, please submit the entire text. Do not send original artwork.
  • For a fiction book, submit three sample chapters.
  • For a non-fiction book, submit a sample chapter with a book outline.
  • Timetable for the book's completion
  • Market analysis—What other books are similar? How is yours different?
  • Endorsements by others
  • Social media platforms and follower numbers
  • Speaking calendar—How many times a month do you speak? How many people are in those audiences?
  • Email list—Total number of subscribers to your email notifications

If your proposal is accepted, we will request the full manuscript. The manuscript must:

  • Be original, unpublished writing
  • Cover topics related to the creation-evolution debate, the Bible, and/or Christian faith
  • Be formatted in Times New Roman, 12-point font, and double spaced in a Microsoft Word document
  • Follow the guidelines in The Chicago Manual of Style for formatting, citations, etc.
  • Be accompanied by all necessary permissions for use of outside material included in the manuscript
Note: Prepare all materials in Microsoft Word. We will not accept documents via Google.
