New Defender's Study Bible Notes
126:1 turned again the captivity. This psalm may have been written after the Babylonian captivity, but also could well refer to the long siege of Jerusalem by Sennacherib. This was the occasion of God’s miraculous deliverance which just preceded the miracle of the sun dial’s shadow (Isaiah 37:36-38). The entire psalm is best understood in the context of this great deliverance and the resultant joy of the people.
