20:3 Magor-missabib. This symbolic name of Pashur given by the Lord through Jeremiah means something like “Fear-Surrounding-Him.”
20:4 captive into Babylon. There have been frequent indirect references to the imminent Babylonian exile in previous chapters, but this is the first actual mention of the name, out of some 160 in the book of Jeremiah altogether.
