Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.

46:1 shut the six working days. This regulation is in sharp contrast to the ultimate temple regime, for in the New Jerusalem there is “no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it” (Revelation 21:22). The gates of the city “shall not be shut at all” (Revelation 21:25).
