As was noted in my article “Biblical Succession” in the April issue of Acts & Facts, the ICR Board of Trustees has authorized a national search to find a new President to lead ICR into the next phase of ministry.
I am writing this to answer some questions that have arisen in response to this announcement. The complication of the shelter-in-place order in Dallas and surrounding counties has prompted some to ask for clarification of the search and transition process. Others have confused ICR’s current CEO with ICR’s Director of Operations. I, Henry Morris III, am a son of the founder, and our Director of Operations, Henry Morris IV, is my son who joined a decade ago right after the ministry moved to Dallas.
Those who have been followers of ICR’s ministry will know Henry Morris IV through his monthly Stewardship articles in Acts & Facts. During the intense years of the construction of the ICR Discovery Center for Science & Earth History, his daily involvement led to several articles and ongoing contact with our supporters. Henry IV is not leaving ICR, nor is his work and influence waning in the slightest.
I am almost 78 years old, and the Board and I thought it best for us to begin a national search for my replacement while I am still able to guide the ministry and assist whomever the Lord reveals to be the next President. Just as our founder did when Dr. John Morris assumed the presidency, I plan to keep an office at ICR and continue to advise and counsel as needed.
The timing for this search seemed good to all of the Board. Had we known of the impending COVID-19 restrictions, we might have waited until this is complete before starting the search. This crisis has certainly made the process more complicated. We were hoping that the Lord would reveal His new servant by the end of this fiscal year in June. Other than that desire, there is no artificial date or timeline. I am still working full-time and plan to do so until the next leader is selected.
Pray with us. The ministry is as strong and focused as one could wish, and we are excited to see what the Lord has in store.
Note: Please do not call ICR with recommendations or suggestions. For a confidential discussion regarding this search, or to nominate a prospective candidate, please write to james.barnes@indwes.edu. Applicants should send only a cover letter and resume/CV to ICRPresident@rpainc.org. For a prospectus describing the qualifications for ICR’s next president, click here. *Dr. Morris is Chief Executive Officer of the Institute for Creation Research. He holds four earned degrees, including a D.Min. from Luther Rice Seminary and a MBA from Pepperdine University.
